Resident Camp 2012 (ages 7-15)

Typical Overnight Camp Schedule

2012 Themes of the Week

An experience to remember for a lifetime! From first-timers to third generation campers, the Camp Stella Maris resident camp offers a unique and exciting values-based camping environment. Children enjoy the outdoors, make friends, learn new skills, as well as challenge themselves spiritually, emotionally and physically - an opportunity for personal growth while having lots of fun!

Our resident campers are divided into 5 age divisions. All divisions take part in programming from Adventure, Arts and Nature, Ballfield, Spiritual and Waterfront, our five program areas. Our youngest three divisions all take part in swimming lessons and can also choose from a variety of activities within the five areas. Some of our programs include low ropes, surviving the outdoors, jewelry making, drama and improv, basketball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, fishing, etc.

For our older divisions, campers will have the opportunity to sign up for additional programs. The basic skills for the beginner through experienced enthusiast are taught in camp's water skiing and sailing programs. If adventure and a challenge are calling out to you, try our high ropes or extreme high ropes program. For campers who have an artistic side, pottery allows you to create a masterpiece. And if you want to try a classic summer camp activity, there's archery.

2012 Themes of the Week

While any time at Camp Stella Maris is sure to be filled with fun, summer programs are centered around a specific weekly theme. Whether they are dressed in costume or singing silly songs, your camper is sure to enjoy their week at Camp.

A Week African Lion Safari
Welcome to the beautiful African continent. Please keep your hands and feet securely inside CSM as we embark on an African Lion Safari and beyond. If you direct your attention to your right you will see the lush savanna grass lands. Please remain calm. This is a rare treat but perched upon the horse block I believe there is a pride of lions! On your left you can just make out a jaguar sleeping in the rafters of Peggy’s Jungle Café. Please join us on this week long safari. Don’t worry moms we have trained professionals to handle the Great White Mondo Shark.

B Week Fantasy, Folklore, and Fairy Tales
Have you ever wanted to storm a castle and save a princess, kiss a frog and see him transformed in to a prince, carve out the Grand Canyon with a giant ax and of course your mule Blue, or huff and puff and blow the Wegman House down? Well this is the week to do it. We will be reliving classic folk tales and of course making up a few of our own! There will be plenty of magic and fables to go around, so sharpen your imagination and jump on in to a world of CSM wonder!

C Week Tribal Triumph
Close your eyes and imagine a place with no countries, a place with no states or even cities, where people live and travel as a clan or as a tribe; many people around the world still live this way. Open your eyes and you find yourself at camp, living not as a member of a cabin but in a long house or wigwam with your tribe. This will be a week of tribal dances and stories, of chiefs and shaman. This will be a week with no technology; a week you will never forget.

D Week Mondo Mayhem
Over the last 40 years camp has grown and changed a great deal. If you were to see the way camp looked 40 years ago and the way it looks now you probably wouldn’t believe it was the same place. We have new buildings, new campers, new ropes courses, but over those 40 years one man has remained a constant. One man has helped keep camp, camp. Whether you know him as Armando, Mondo, Tiz, or just that old bald man, over the last 40 years camp would not be camp without Armando Toppi. This summer will be Mondo’s 40th summer at Camp Stella Maris and this week will be all about him. We will celebrate his 40th anniversary as a staff member by reliving the past 40 years of camp’s history. It will mean classic camp programs and of course a huge party for everyone, with Mondo being the guest of honor.

E Week Welcome Back to Neverland
Welcome to Never-Never land. This week as a lost boy or girl you may battle pirates, fly on the back of the wind, and most importantly, never, ever, grow up! There is no need for a GPS this week.  Tink will sprinkle some fairy dust and all you need to do is think one happy thought and you will fly. Second star to the right and straight on till morning.

F Week ColorWars!
Camp's new favorite theme is back and will be better than ever. Each division at camp will be split in to one of four teams, Blue, Green, Yellow, and our reigning champion Red. During the week the color teams, led by their color captains will earn points for their team. Of course we will bring back classics like Capture the Flag, finding the color balls, and everything you have loved about color wars in the past, but we have been working all year so of course we will have a few new tricks up our sleeves. Get ready for a great Color Wars and don’t forget to pack a few shirts of each color.

G Week “Just Win, Baby, Win!”
In the summer of 2012 the US has a chance to go for gold and make Olympic history, and at CSM this week so will you! This will be a week devoted to this summer’s Olympic Games. Camp will be transformed from the shores of Conesus Lake to London England, the site of this summer’s games, with everything from an opening ceremony, country competitions, the CSM Olympic torch, and of course more U! S! A! chants than you could imagine. Come on USA, Mondo said it best, “Just Win, Baby, Win!”

H Week ROAD TRIP!
It’s time for a ROAD TRIP! Buckle up because you are in for a wild ride. From the Great Lakes to the Great Plains. Hollywood, Miami, and New York. Get ready to see them all. This will be a week-long trek across our great country. CSM will take us down the highways and byways to see mountains, valleys, cities, towns and so much more!
